Usability

These screen shots show some of the usability features of the system.

Hiding Panes and Sorting

In this screen shot the user has hidden the 'Add Tasks' pane of the task form, in order to make it easier to read. The hidden pane, is dimmed out and shrunk to a grey strip across the screen.

Importantly, the system 'remembers' the user's choices. If the user leaves this form to check something on another form, on return it will be in exactly the same state it was left. In this case with 'Add Tasks' pane hidden.

The system also allows the user to sort by column. In this example the user has clicked on the 'On' column and the data is sorted, in this case by date. The system displays on upward pointing arrow to indicate the sorted column and the sort order. A further click of the column will reverse the sort order and the direction of the indicator arrow.

Hiding Columns and Menu Tracking

In this screen shot the user has hidden two columns in the task form. The hidden columns headers contain a single dot to allow the user to expand the column at any time. This combined with the data sorting feature discussed above provides a rich user experience that is remarkably easy to learn.

Note that the user has scrolled down the screen in order to look at the data in the table. The side menu scrolls down with the user, allowing different side menus to be selected without scrolling to the top of the page.

The system, will remember the state of this form, including how far down the screen the user has scrolled, and on return to the form will scroll to the position it was last in as well as preserving the sorted and hidden columns and hidden panes.
